This book is smart, fun, and inspires the kids to be creative! I've been dying to use it in a story time but I couldn't figure out a craft that would work. Turns out: it was easy!
CRAFT: Craft Stick Crayons
I was lucky to have the pre-colored jumbo craft sticks. Although this saved time; it limited my colors to blue, orange, red, & purple (no pink!) which was kind of a bummer.
First I drew the "wrapper" markings on the stick with a black marker and wrote the color! My group is bilingual; so we did this in Spanish!
Next, I cut the crayon tip out of foam (I had these pre-cut for the kiddos). This could be made out of card stock or whatever paper is on hand! Simply glue it on!
Finally, the little guy needs arms! I pre-cut lengths of pipe cleaners in corresponding colors. These are taped to the back and he's done!!
